Romanian-British artist Ioana Pioaru bridges the gap between tradition and innovation, crafting intricate ink drawings that echo classical beauty while pioneering in virtual reality and holography. Born in 1986 in Pucioasa, Romania, Ioana Pioaru’s artistic journey is marked by a deep reverence for traditional techniques and an insatiable curiosity for new mediums. After obtaining her BA and MA in fine art drawing from the National University of Arts in Bucharest, she pursued a PhD at the University of Chester, focusing on the concept of artistic maximalism.

Pioaru’s ink drawings are characterized by meticulous detail and a classical aesthetic, often depicting architectural elements, literary figures, and natural landscapes. Her series “Fragment” captures the essence of Romanian streetscapes, rendering them with a precision that evokes both nostalgia and timelessness.​

Venturing beyond paper, Pioaru explores the realms of virtual reality and holography, developing a unique technique that transforms her hand-drawn images into three-dimensional experiences.
